Kernel Headquarters

Housed within Auckland's former BNZ headquarters, Kernel's new workplace balances the permanence of heritage architecture with the agility of a modern financial business. Rather than erasing the building's history, the design embraces it, allowing decades of character to inform a contemporary way of working.
A restrained material palette and carefully considered interventions sit quietly alongside the existing fabric, where original textures, generous light and inherited imperfections lend the workplace a sense of authenticity. The result is an environment that feels both progressive and grounded, celebrating the dialogue between past and present.
For Tim Webber, the Button Pendant by AND complements this balance. Its sculptural form introduces warmth and softness within the refined architectural language, contributing to a workplace defined by longevity, craftsmanship and considered design.
