Humble beginnings

and passion for design.

Tim Webber Design has grown from an experiment, to a business.

Tim's early passion for design and making began at a young age, where he found himself enjoying the process of creating objects with his hands, and the subsequent satisfaction of the finished product. This affection for design and conceptualising was fostered during his Bachelor of Design study, and encouraged Tim to begin work on his first range of furniture just 6 months after graduation.

From a makeshift workshop no wider than an arm space, wedged against 8m high pallets of plywood, came an experimental collection of nine furniture pieces.

First TWD exhibition

After the creation of this initial range Tim was invited to exhibit his products at an Auckland furniture showroom, which successfully kickstarted his career and design studio.

It was that first sale of a piece of furniture (an Austin Entertainment Unit) that inspired Tim and gave him confidence that the product and brand could succeed.

Tim wins the Design Folio Award and a trip to Salone Del Mobile furniture fair in Milan.

WRAP STOOL 650MM

The Wrap Stools are a sophisticated design constructed from 12mm steel rod with a European Beech plywood seat. The stools feature in the WM Series which displays the relationship between wood and metal seamlessly in a single piece. This relationship is evident in the way the edge of the plywood seat embraces the bent steel, as well as the steel wrapping around the front and back of the seat.
